Got Leaks? Basic Home Plumbing
March 17, 10:30 am - 11:30 am— Free
Join LMUD during the annual Fix a Leak Week. Easy-to-fix water leaks account for nearly 1 trillion gallons of water wasted each year in U.S. homes, according to the EPA. The typical home can lose 2,000 to 20,000 gallons of water per year due to leaks causing water waste and damage for many households. Unfortunately, some leaks can go undetected for years because the source of the leak is not visible. Learn how to spot leaks, shut off your water during major leaks, fix some leaks, and when to call a professional plumber. We’ll also cover how we handle water meter profiles and leak adjustments. This session will cover indoor water leaks only.
Founded in 1972, Lakeway Municipal Utility District (LMUD) provides vital water services to over 10,000 residents and business owners in the Lakeway community. This includes maintenance of extensive water infrastructure, including Lakeway’s iconic golf ball water tower. Their 48th anniversary celebration kicks off in February 2020 with the installation of a Lakeway Historic Marker at their district office, recognizing LMUD as one of the first MUDs in Texas and the first utility company in Lakeway. LMUD also developed one of the state’s first innovative approaches to water conservation with a water reuse system to irrigate Youpon Golf Course, which is now extended throughout the city. Join LMUD in a series of presentation aimed at recognizing the importance of water to our health and in our community. Each presentation features a guest speaker, leaving attendees with information and resources that can be implemented at home or work for cost and efficiency benefits.
