Open House: Imagine a Day Without Water
October 17, 2022 - October 22, 2022
Stop in any day this week! We’d love to meet with you in person. Our Open House is happening now at our office (1097 Lohmans Crossing) and open every day this week (Oct. 17-21) from 8am-5pm, closed noon-1pm for lunch. We have a display of excerpts from the entries to our Imagine a Day Without Water Essay Contest – some very funny and some ominous comments from local Elementary, Middle, and High School students. Plus, there are goodies to take home: treats, water-saving information, and fun/helpful household tools. We look forward to seeing you here!
We want to say one more BIG thank you to everyone who submitted (or encouraged) an entry to our Imagine a Day Without Water Essay Contest! We received a total of 66 entries, many more than we were expecting. We have made our selection of winners and have contacted them individually to award them with their trophy:
- High School Level: Aria K., a 9th grader from Lake Travis High School
- Middle School Level: Meera M., a 6th grader from Hudson Bend Middle School
- Elementary School Level: Elizabeth H., a 5th grader from Lakeway Elementary School
Founded in 1972, Lakeway Municipal Utility District (LMUD) provides vital water, wastewater, and recycled water services to over 10,000 residents and business owners in the Lakeway community. This includes maintenance of extensive infrastructure, including Lakeway’s iconic golf ball water tower. In 2020, Lakeway's Heritage Committee honored LMUD with the installation of a Lakeway Historic Marker at their district office, recognizing LMUD as one of the first MUDs in Texas and the first utility company in Lakeway. LMUD also developed one of the state’s first innovative approaches to water conservation with a water reuse system to irrigate Youpon Golf Course, which is now extended throughout the city.
